About the Role

As a Field Service Specialist, you will be responsible for managing demand, contract, and after-sales project service for our customers. You will work on the front lines of development, shaping the field as you go, and contribute to an industry-leading team of automation professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance of automation equipment and hardware at customer locations, particularly on QCS (Scanner), Profilers, and Controls systems.
  • Collaborate with team members and assist other service personnel to resolve complex service issues.
  • Demonstrate and document the value provided to the customer through services rendered.
  • Perform field commissioning of automation equipment.
  • Document service and performance for capital equipment, including new system installations and additions.
  • Implement new and add-on systems (hardware and software) as required.
  • Assist customers in problem-solving at their worksites and via phone.
  • Understand the customers' pulp and paper process and how automation equipment interacts with it.
  • Provide sales support for service as needed.
  • Actively promote spare parts and component upgrades at customer sites.
  • Inform the service manager and North American product managers of product-related issues.
  • Prepare trip reports, expense reports, and timesheets within two weeks of each mill visit.
  • Clearly document the value provided during each visit.
  • Routinely contact customers to schedule visits, determine the status of installed equipment, and take necessary actions to repair any failed equipment.
  • Ensure the sales team and service manager are aware of your schedule.
  • Visit customers regularly to maintain and improve customer relationships.
  • Provide after-hours emergency service when required.
  • Perform other duties typical to the position as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of experience with QCS / Profilers and Controls environments.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently, including making decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical.
  • Self-managed and able to set daily and weekly priorities with customers.
