About the Role

We are looking for a high-impact Account Director to lead and expand our most critical relationships within the Financial Services sector. You are responsible for the long-term vision and commercial health of a concentrated book of Enterprise accounts. In this role, you won’t just manage accounts; you will be the lead architect for AlphaSense’s growth within the world’s most sophisticated investment banks, asset managers, and hedge funds. You will manage a portfolio of Strategic Financial Accounts, working closely with end users and decision makers, including C-suite executives, key decision makers and end users, who rely on AlphaSense to gain a competitive edge in the markets. Success in this role is fundamentally measured by your ability to protect and expand revenue; as such, you will carry specific targets and quotas tied to Gross Dollar Retention (GDR) and Net Dollar Retention (NDR) to accelerate growth. While retention and growth remain core metrics, the impact of an Account Director extends well beyond traditional KPIs. By deeply understanding client needs and workflows, Account Directors bring high-value insight back to product, marketing, and sales teams to shape strategy, messaging, and execution across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately forecast and deliver on retention and aggressive expansion targets to maximize Gross Revenue Retention (GRR) and Net Revenue Retention (NRR).
  • Increase and drive adoption of AlphaSense solutions into other business units of existing clients to uncover new opportunities, exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals.
  • Identify revenue at risk in order to best position the company to prevent churn.
  • Partner with the global sales team and customer success managers to help execute a strategic client growth plan for your book of accounts across a shared revenue target.
  • Understand the ins and outs of the business, roles, responsibilities, projects, performance metrics, etc. within our client base in order to more effectively: 1) communicate with users, 2) communicate with decision makers, 3) identify white space, 4) partner with AEs to craft the most compelling messaging to prospective users.
  • Transition AlphaSense from a vendor to a strategic business partner by cultivating a network of champions and executive sponsors across the C-Suite and Investment Committees.
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and customer meetings that focus on ROI, business impact, and long-term roadmap alignment.
  • Plan and execute new user onboarding and training initiatives.
  • Consistent proactive, value-added outreach campaigns that leverage market-relevant insights to keep stakeholders engaged and informed of our product.
  • Travel frequently to major financial hubs to meet with end users, lead in-person executive briefings and quarterly business reviews.
  • Serve as both the advocate for AlphaSense to the client, and the client advocate within AlphaSense.
  • Acquire value stories and product feedback from clients. Circulate internally to assist with product development, marketing, sales efforts.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of converting users into champions and moving fluidly between users and the C-Suite to align with their top-level business mandates.
  • Master of internal navigation.
  • Strategically deploy company resources and subject matter experts to deliver maximum value to your clients.
  • Strong business acumen and commitment to effective processes and tactics.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Ability to pivot seamlessly between deep-dive technical discussions with functional leads and high-level strategic consultations with C-suite executives, tailoring your value proposition to meet the unique priorities of every stakeholder.
  • Understand best practices for client engagement within a SaaS environment.
  • Understand the "Land and Expand" lifecycle within a SaaS ecosystem and can identify high-value integration points—such as API usage or enterprise-wide deployments—that transform our software from a line-item expense into a mission-critical utility.
  • Set the example for grit, work ethic, initiative, enthusiasm and commitment amongst your peers.
  • Possess an owner’s mindset, taking full accountability for the health and expansion of your portfolio.
