About the Role

Contributes to the success of the US Investment Grade Cash Trading Desk, part of Global Fixed Income, by executing individual goals and initiatives to support team strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Supports the Debt Capital Markets franchise through trading in the secondary bond market.
  • Drives revenue and trading volumes through client interactions and prudent risk-taking.
  • Fosters new and existing client relationships, and cross-sells existing relationships across other areas and product groups.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Manages trading inventories and generates trading revenues in compliance with limits and the bank’s risk profile.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
  • Ensures the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Holds a relevant bachelor’s degree (Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related discipline).
  • CFA designation is an asset.
  • SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses required.
  • Must become an Associated Person of a swap dealer and meet the NFA Swap Proficiency Requirement within 30 days.
  • Strong financial and computer literacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, excellent problem resolution, and time management skills.
