About the Role

The Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel is seeking a dependable and hardworking Substitute Barback to support bartenders and ensure seamless bar operations. This role keeps bar areas stocked, clean, and organized, contributing to an outstanding guest experience in a fast-paced environment. The position involves a 5:30 PM to 1:00 AM closing shift with a focus on detailed cleaning and bar breakdown.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the bar daily by restocking liquor, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, and supplies.
• Assist with bar setup and breakdown.
• Maintain cleanliness of all bar areas.
• Manage glassware and waste promptly and safely.
• Support bartenders by replacing kegs, prepping garnishes, and organizing storage areas.
• Run food for all bar orders.
• Follow hotel safety and sanitation procedures.
• Respond to guest requests as appropriate, maintaining high service standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a hospitality or bar setting is ideal, though on-the-job training may be provided.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to remain on feet for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills.
• Positive team attitude.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must meet legal age requirements to handle alcohol in New York State.
