About the Role

Within the Trust Services team, the Assistant Trust Account Manager will report to the Assistant Vice President of Trust Services. You will be goal-oriented, capable of managing a portfolio of estate and trust accounts, while serving as a role model for the trust administrators on the team. You will ensure the consistent delivery of superior service to our partners and their clients, while building and maintaining strong relationships with internal RJL and external centres of influence partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the prompt, accurate, and professional administration of estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts (for both trust and representative services).
  • Take responsibility for the effective resolution of client and partner inquiries and concerns.
  • Exercise discretion as provided for in the will, trust deed, or power of attorney for clients for whom CTS has obtained authority.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Compliance, Operations, Legal, and other related departments, to resolve system, administration, risk management, and legal issues related to account management.
  • Participate in audit activities, including business line oversight, internal audits, and regulatory audits and reviews, as applicable.
  • Participate in the review and discussion of discretionary decisions on behalf of CTS.
  • Participate in the creation, modification, and implementation of policies and procedures, as applicable.
  • Build strategic relationships with centres of influence, such as lawyers, accountants, and investment advisors, to enhance their knowledge and willingness to work with our trust business for the benefit of their high-net-worth clients.
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in estates and trusts (or a related field).
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in managing estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and their wealth management advisors.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical ability to identify and resolve diverse, complex, and ambiguous problems quickly and practically.
  • In-depth knowledge of estate, trust, and power of attorney legislation.
  • Occasional travel within the province may be required.
  • Frequent communication with clients and teams, departments, and subsidiaries located outside of Quebec, including other Canadian provinces, the United States, and the United Kingdom, is required.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in French, both spoken and written, is required.
