About the Role
The Certified Medication Aide will prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol, ensuring resident safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments per state regulations, company policy, and procedures.
- Observes and reports resident reactions and side-effects to medication to the charge nurse.
- Takes and records vital signs before administering medications that could affect them.
- Reports to the charge nurse and documents reasons for not administering prescribed drugs.
- Administers regularly prescribed medication after personally preparing it.
- Documents administered medication in the resident's medication administration record.
- Administers oxygen via nasal cannula or non-sealing face mask in emergencies and notifies a licensed nurse.
- Applies specifically ordered ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medication.
- Accurately follows all principles of good medication administration.
- Assists with customary daily care and treatment tasks, including bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake, hair/nail care, resident transfers, and responding to calls.
- Helps charge nurses with the cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room, and supply room.
