About the Role
The Cyber Analyst blends front-line defense with strategic insight to safeguard Payments Canada's systems and the broader Canadian payment ecosystem. This role involves leading advanced cyber intrusion detection, forensic analysis, and comprehensive security assessments to proactively manage and resolve security incidents.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced cyber intrusion detection, analysis, and forensic review.
- Recommend areas requiring further investigation and remediation.
- Prepare reports and briefing notes for leadership to support relationships with financial institutions, regulators, and government agencies.
- Conduct security and risk analysis, including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk control evaluation.
- Identify and verify security requirements.
- Collaborate with IT teams and management to resolve cyber security events, incidents, and recovery.
- Enhance existing and create new incident response playbooks.
- Leverage automation and artificial intelligence to support detection and response.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, or related fields.
- Minimum three years of experience in information security, information risk management, or information systems roles.
- Experience in security operations, incident response, and threat hunting.
- Experience with Python and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with a modern SIEM such as Google SecOps or CrowdStrike.
- Knowledge of and experience in cyber information sharing and analysis networks.
- Ability to work outside regular working hours based on operational requirements.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Ability to travel occasionally outside the Ottawa area.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a GoC Reliability Clearance.
- Successful completion of enhanced background checks.
