About the Role

Airtable's Ask an Expert function works directly with customers via live calls to assess, restructure, and optimize how they've built on the platform. This role involves resolving architectural limitations, showcasing new capabilities, and guiding customers to the next step in their platform journey.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer calls to diagnose structural and architectural issues in customer-built Airtable environments.
  • Assess data modeling, linked record strategy, automation design, and interface configuration to identify architectural limitations.
  • Restructure and rebuild customer environments to improve scalability, performance, and unlock new capabilities.
  • Frame recommendations around business impact, connecting architectural decisions to customer workflow outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer platform usage, including automation, interfaces, and AI capabilities.
  • Surface patterns of customers outgrowing initial architecture and provide feedback to product, engineering, and support teams.
  • Stay current on platform evolution, particularly AI, automation, and integration patterns, to inform recommendations.

Requirements

  • Builder with an optimization mindset and understanding of relational data modeling.
  • Experience in a consultative, customer-facing technical role in B2B SaaS (solutions consulting, technical support, customer engineering, or similar).
  • Comfortable leading calls, diagnosing problems live, and guiding customers through fixes.
  • Experience using AI to accelerate research, prototype solutions, and solve problems.
  • Clear communicator able to adjust explanations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Naturally curious about how people build things and the choices they make.
  • Experience with relational databases, automation logic, and workflow design.
  • Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, and scripting is a plus.
