About the Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Python Software Engineer with approximately five years of experience to deepen their expertise in commodities trading within the Engelhart Technology team's Risk, Finance & Compliance function. The position involves high autonomy, direct exposure to stakeholders, and end-to-end ownership of initiatives. It provides a unique chance to influence the company's technology landscape and deliver impactful solutions in a collaborative, delivery-focused team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing in-house systems and third-party integrations.
  • Collaborating with Risk & Finance teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Providing technical support to Risk, Finance, and Front Office users.
  • Contributing to the evolution of the technology platform, including architectural design and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Designing and implementing new data visualizations for internal dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Performing data cleansing, enrichment, and transformation using efficient and scalable tools.
  • Developing and maintaining data integration services and query interfaces.
  • Participating in technology projects supporting key business initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong Python developer with current experience in a commodities trading environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including analytical and visualization libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Plotly).
  • Experience building APIs using Python frameworks, preferably FastAPI.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, Cognito, ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and CDK.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of parallel and distributed data processing concepts.
  • Strong analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and experience working with distributed or remote teams.
  • Willingness to share knowledge, mentor others, and continuously learn.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Experience designing or building event-driven architectures (highly desirable).
  • Experience with applying AI tools, large language models, and agent-based workflows (highly desirable).
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol servers and related approaches (highly desirable).
