About the Role
MR PORTER is seeking a talented and commercially minded Assistant Buyer to join its dynamic Buying team. This role involves preparing for buying trips, managing orders and pricing, monitoring competitors, driving in-season trading, leading trade reporting, supporting launches, and assisting with team projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare for buying trips and appointments, overseeing vendor packs, attending appointments, reviewing sales history, and completing buy sheets.
- Manage orders and pricing by raising and sending orders via the YNAP system and overseeing the RRP entry process.
- Monitor competitors and pricing alignment through competitive shops and delivery checks.
- Drive in-season trading by analyzing weekly sales, proposing repeats and swaps, and liaising with vendors.
- Lead weekly trade reporting, creating sheets covering delivery highlights, editorial features, and best/worst sellers.
- Support launches and on-site standards by working with Press, Marketing, and Editorial, and monitoring product presentation.
- Support team performance and projects by managing and coaching the Buyer’s Admin Assistant and assisting with ad-hoc projects.
Requirements
- Experience at a BAA or equivalent level gained in a fast-paced fashion retail buying or merchandising environment with strong administrative skills.
- Strong analytical and advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
- Commercial Awareness – understanding of our business, products and competition.
- Strong eye for detail and organisational skills and strives for a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work with stringent deadlines.
- A great sense of humour, personal style and attitude.
