About the Role
Perkins&Will Atlanta Studio is seeking a Designer I to support the design team throughout all project phases. This role contributes to creative design ideas and deliverables, assisting with drawings, research, material selections, and presentations while collaborating to bring design concepts to life.
Responsibilities
- Provides assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance.
- Contributes to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
- Supports preparation of creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions.
- Participates as an integral member of the design team.
- Provides design support under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Performs product research and assists team with material selections.
- Assists in preparing client presentation materials using design application skills and creative ideas.
- Uses a creative approach to perform tasks and responsibilities on projects in an organized, timely, and consistent way.
- Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compiles data for document compliance.
- Proactively asks questions and expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
- Provides support to tasks within project teams and studio activities.
- Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
- Keeps open communication within the team and with the designated team leader.
- Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
- Assists with coordination among partners and consultants.
- Aware of client contracts.

- Requires 1+ year of experience.

- LEED GA within 6 months of hire
- Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design (LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation)
- Active involvement in AXP, or starting the ARE Process
