About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager of People Operations who is eager to take on real operational responsibility in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for and shape HR processes for our entire workforce, from train personnel and commercial employees to corporate and tech colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Operative HR management
- Responsibility for the entire HR lifecycle, from onboarding and contract management to offboarding and compliance
- Support and further development of HR processes for a mixed commercial and industrial workforce with high demands on legally compliant, consistent implementation
- Operational implementation even under high time pressure; you ensure that things get done, even when the timeline is tight
- Close collaboration with managers from railway operations, customer experience, and the corporate sector
- Preparatory payroll accounting in the absence of the Payroll Manager
- Stakeholder management & consulting
- Trusted contact person for managers and employees on all HR-relevant issues: policies, compliance, labor law
- Confident handling of complex labor law situations and employee discussions
- Close collaboration with Talent Acquisition, People Partnering, and Legal to ensure smooth interfaces
- Process optimization & automation
- Identification of inefficiencies in existing HR processes and development of scalable, partially automated solutions, preferably with AI support
- Co-design and implementation of HR digitalization projects to reduce manual effort and improve data quality
- Development of dashboards and reporting structures for informed people decisions at management level
- Active promotion of a culture of continuous improvement within the People team
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience in HR / People Operations, ideally in a high-growth or operationally complex company
- Proven experience in supporting mixed workforces; commercial and/or industrial target groups are a clear plus
- Strong operational mindset: You build systems rather than just putting out fires; you document rather than just acting
- Fluent German (min. C1) in spoken and written form; you communicate confidently with employees and authorities in German
- Good English for cross-departmental collaboration in the international Flix environment
- Sound knowledge of German labor law and HR compliance
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR) and data-based HR reporting
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels
- Practical experience with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, workflow automation) for optimizing HR processes
- Background in logistics, transport, retail, or other operationally intensive industries
- Experience with larger people projects or HR transformations
- Genuine curiosity about the future of HR tech; you don't wait for someone to explain what AI can do
