About the Role

As a Design Manager, you will lead and direct technical execution, quality assurance, scheduling, and resource allocation for contract and core design projects across Japan, the U.S., and India. You will serve as the primary liaison between project teams and clients, ensuring alignment on technical specifications, timelines, and budgets while managing the comprehensive portfolio of the Goken Nihon division.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical execution, quality assurance, scheduling, and resource allocation for contract and core design projects.
  • Manage teams across Japan, the U.S., and India.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project teams and clients to ensure alignment on technical specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Manage the comprehensive portfolio of Haken business and core projects within the Goken Nihon division.
  • Foster collaboration and maintain communication channels between internal and external engineers and key suppliers.
  • Act as the central point of coordination for project stakeholders to facilitate technical reviews and resolve scope issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and conduct interviews for dispatched personnel.
  • Oversee comprehensive on-site operations management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the design and development of automotive interior and exterior resin parts (soft and hard trim).
  • 10+ years of experience working with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in project management, including technical guidance, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 or V6 (3DEXPERIENCE) including GSD, Part Design, Assembly Design, and Drafting.
  • Knowledge of solid and surface modeling and mechanical drafting.
  • Understanding of automotive development schedules.
  • Thorough understanding of resin parts manufacturing processes, DFMEA, GD&T, and cumulative tolerance analysis.
  • Japanese-English bilingual proficiency (JLPT N2 or higher).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Experience with Honda parts development is preferred.
