About the Role

The World Food Programme is seeking a consultant to support the ShareTheMeal initiative, a fundraising and awareness-raising app. The role focuses on developing features, maintaining the Admin application, and ensuring system security to help achieve the goal of zero hunger.

Responsibilities

  • Develop features and improvements for the Node.js based platform.
  • Develop and maintain the Admin application using Python, Flask, and AWS.
  • Automate workflows to reduce turnaround times.
  • Develop solutions for managing customizable features.
  • Implement monitoring and logging tools using CloudWatch and Sentry.
  • Ensure security of Admin functionalities.
  • Collaborate with the backend team to implement security best practices.
  • Work with Product Management and stakeholders to maintain quality in an Agile environment.
  • Define and improve internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews to advocate for engineering standards.
  • Ship large-sized features and improvements.
  • Facilitate staff development.
  • Assist management with initiative-related activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 or more years of experience in developing and designing Python/JS based systems.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Commitment to the aims of the World Food Programme.
