About the Role
This role plays a critical part in protecting the organization from money laundering and broader financial crime risks by conducting enhanced due diligence reviews on high-risk clients and scenarios. You will assess if financial crime risks are sufficiently mitigated and aligned with Alpha’s risk appetite, and investigate escalated high-risk factors like PEPs and adverse media findings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of high-risk client accounts to evaluate risks and ensure adherence to procedural, policy, and regulatory requirements.
- Handle complex cases and assess escalations from 1st Line, pertaining to Adverse media, PEPs, SOEs, Risk appetite, Policy exceptions/deviations, and AML Letters.
- Provide EDD guidance to the 1st Line, Client Service, and Sales teams.
- Contribute to the wider compliance framework, supporting the development of internal processes and procedures.
- Conduct analysis with a command in alternative investment structures, becoming adept in various client types.
- Ensure all work is carried out with the highest standards of quality and adherence to policies.
- Actively work on individual performance with Line Manager.
- Master various compliance platforms, screening tools, and systems to streamline department workflow.
- Respond to queries from various business units promptly and efficiently.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Pro-active approach with a mindset of looking for constant improvement.
- Ambitious person eager to continually develop their skillset who will embrace pressure and ongoing change.
- Accuracy and a keen attention to detail.
- Interest in compliance, know your customer (KYC), and anti-money laundering regulations is required.
- 1-2 years of AML/KYC experience is preferred but not required.
