About the Role
Native Child and Family Services of Toronto utilizes volunteer drivers to provide transportation to children in care to and from appointments, family visits, school, camp, and other special drive requests. We are always looking for drivers who have good driving records, would like to give back to the community and are reliable and punctual.
Responsibilities
- Provide local and long-distance transportation for children while abiding by the rules of the road and all driving/automobile related laws.
- Follow all Native Child and Family Services of Toronto policies and procedures as applicable.
- Submit driver's abstract prior to commencing as a Volunteer Driver and annually thereafter.
- Maintain a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance.
- Adhere to mandatory seat belt and child restraint regulations.
- Complete mandatory child safety seat training, as required.
- Ensure vehicle is equipped with approved tether bolts for infant/toddler car seats.
- Ensure children under 13 sit in the rear seat with a seat belt if the vehicle has a passenger air bag.
Requirements
- Must have a valid G driver’s license.
- Must have and maintain a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance.
- Vulnerable Sector Clearance must be completed at the start of service, and every 3 years thereafter.
- Must complete mandatory child safety seat training, as required.
- Good driving record.
- Reliability, flexibility, patience, and confidentiality are all required.
- Experience with children is an asset.
