About the Role
Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services to inform and support client decisions in the electric power industry. This role focuses on capex modelling for offshore and onshore wind, supporting the global wind sector and providing critical market intelligence and consulting support to various stakeholders across the renewable energy value chain.
Responsibilities
- Shape and deepen Wood Mackenzie’s capex modelling structure and content, with a primary focus on offshore and onshore wind.
- Lead high-level discussions and analysis on the future of wind energy costs.
- Collaborate with top developers, investors, and suppliers to map out the implications of risk, supply and demand dynamics, and commodity pricing pressures to inform investment strategies.
- Partner with supply chain and cost experts, market analysts, global power teams, and LCOE modelling experts to ensure analysis feeds into project revenue and project IRR projections.
- Monitor, maintain, and refresh relevant data through primary and secondary research, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
- Lead and contribute to high-impact, thought-leading research publications.
- Ensure all research deliverables are executed and delivered in a timely fashion to a high standard.
- Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker.
- Maintain and expand strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients across the global renewable energy sector.
- Provide technical and commercial insight to support specific consulting advisory assignments across the wind energy sector.
- Work directly with sales and marketing teams via internal and external communications to help generate new sales, build larger programmes for existing clients, and effectively market completed research.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience working directly for a renewable energy developer, investor, or supplier.
- Deep, practical understanding of project costs and pricing structures derived from direct exposure to one or more key procurement packages, such as wind turbines, vessels, foundations, or substations.
- Proven hands-on experience in wind energy cost modelling, with an intimate familiarity with component-level cost developments and a strong understanding of existing and future cost drivers.
- Ability to take complex data and technical analysis and transform it into actionable, commercially focused insights.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, communication, and organisational skills, with a sharp eye for data accuracy.
- Highly motivated self-starter who can switch seamlessly between working as an independent individual contributor and collaborating within a matrixed global team.
- Engaging nature, capable of connecting authentically with co-workers, clients, and industry stakeholders across the globe in a wide range of professional settings.
- Strong listening, critical thinking, presentation, and writing skills, with the confidence to present to senior audiences.
