About the Role
As the first Developer Relations hire at Better Auth, you will build the function from the ground up, blending engineering depth, public presence, and community leadership. You will guide developers through documentation, examples, workshops, and community channels, defining their experience with Better Auth from learning and adoption to contribution and ecosystem understanding. This is a high-ownership role for someone who can teach clearly, build polished examples, engage publicly, and collaborate closely with the engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Create clear documentation, tutorials, guides, workshops, videos, and learning materials.
- Build polished examples, starter projects, and practical reference implementations using TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern frameworks.
- Engage with developers across GitHub, Discord, X, LinkedIn, and events.
- Represent Better Auth through posts, talks, streams, meetups, hackathons, and ecosystem conversations.
- Identify friction in the developer journey, debug issues, improve APIs, and contribute fixes or improvements.
- Highlight contributors, support community projects, and help grow the Better Auth plugin ecosystem.
- Translate complex authentication and identity concepts into clear, practical explanations.
- Help define how developers perceive Better Auth and how the company communicates with the community.
Requirements
- 3+ years in developer relations, developer experience engineering, developer education, or a similar technical community-facing role.
- Strong development skills with the ability to build high-quality demos, debug issues, and contribute to a TypeScript codebase.
- Clear communication skills for writing, speaking, and explaining technical ideas across various formats.
- Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Next.js, or other modern full-stack frameworks.
- Comfortable being active on platforms like X and LinkedIn and engaging with developers publicly.
- Enjoyment in simplifying complex technical ideas and helping developers learn through practical examples.
- Ability to engage thoughtfully with users, contributors, and maintainers while representing the company well.
