About the Role
The Deputy Director, Student Advising is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of CQUniversity’s student advising services. You will lead a geographically dispersed team to deliver a consistent, high-quality advising experience that supports student success, satisfaction, and retention. A key priority will be strengthening the Student Service SPOT model through data-informed decision-making, service innovation, and effective collaboration across the University. As a member of the Directorate’s leadership team, you will contribute to institutional strategy, policy, and service design, while fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Leading the strategic direction and optimisation of student advising services.
- Using data and insights to improve student outcomes and experience.
- Collaborating across academic and professional areas to enhance the student journey.
- Overseeing service design, programs and initiatives aligned to student needs.
- Managing resources and workforce planning to support sustainable service delivery.
- Building capability and performance across a diverse, multi-campus team.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience, or equivalent senior management expertise.
- Proven success in leading customer-focused service functions, including strategy development, operational delivery and resource management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing at senior levels.
- Strong analytical capability with experience using data to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
- Deep understanding of the Australian tertiary education sector and student advising practices.
- Knowledge of contemporary student success, retention and engagement strategies.

Salary/Compensations
- Circa $147,900 pa cash salary plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
