About the Role

This position focuses on expanding sales business in Japan, supporting team activities, and cooperating with Trading to maximize revenue and flows. The role is crucial for State Street Global Markets (SSGM), the investment research and trading arm that enhances and preserves clients' portfolio values by applying technology, optimizing trading, and linking asset classes and markets globally.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for customers using SSGM’s direct foreign exchange services.
  • Establish SSGM as a strategic partner for clients.
  • Ensure appropriate placement of products, research, and strategy highlighting State Street’s value proposition.
  • Manage and develop client relationships to facilitate the FX business.
  • Develop specific plans and maintain customer profiles for close client relationships.
  • Interact with clients across various segments including Asset Managers, Asset Owners, Insurance, Official Institutions, eFX clients, and Hedge Funds.
  • Deal and produce market updates over various communication platforms.
  • Conduct periodical reviews with accounts where primary account management is held.
  • Identify new prospects and implement strategies for onboarding.
  • Collaborate with internal groups representing foreign exchange to provide holistic solutions to client investment needs.
  • Price and key in trades, send trade confirmations, and liaise with middle and back office on trades.
  • Ensure deep knowledge of key client decision-makers from C-Suite to heads of execution/back office.
  • Ensure State Street understands clients' broad FX and Investment needs and feed this information back through timely call reporting.
  • Meet regulatory expectations and strive for Risk Excellence standards in business conduct.
  • Generate daily and monthly reports on FX business, conducting analysis and monitoring client performance.
  • Achieve budget targets through collaboration with local and international colleagues.
  • Collaborate with market risk traders to maximize deal flow value at execution.
  • Provide clear communication of client information and direct deal flow to the desk.
  • Work closely with manager to support sales-related matters and understand global/regional strategy.
  • Participate proactively in strategy implementation.
  • Facilitate with departments such as credit/ERM/Ops to enhance process approvals, maintain limits, and provide supporting information on credit exposures.
  • Respond to internal queries and requests regarding client and sales-related matters.
  • Ensure required documents and credit limits are in place before trade execution.
  • Assist and coordinate client events and functions.
  • Demonstrate a strong risk management culture, accountability, and responsibility in daily activities and personal conduct.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of global market background and related work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual - working level Japanese and English.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Strong client relationship management orientation.
  • Ability to work quickly, prioritize work efficiently, and respond well under pressure.
