About the Role

The Senior Project Support Officer will support the coordination and delivery of strategic priorities, including governance and reporting, risk and issue management, and stakeholder engagement. The role acts as a key enabler of programme and project delivery within SPD, contributing to efficiency and overall delivery effectiveness while building and maintaining strong relationships across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Executive administration – Works closely with the Director of Delivery and the SPD SMT to co-ordinate the Director’s diary, meeting cadence and wider team activity, supporting the effective running of SPD and priority Agency programmes and projects.
  • Programme Management Support – Supports the effective tracking and monitoring of the Agency’s highest-priority programmes and other strategic projects in line with agreed timelines, governance and delivery standards. Oversees the update, collation and quality assurance of programme reporting to support effective oversight and decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Management - Builds and maintains strong, effective working relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, operating confidently in complex environments and supporting a human-centred approach to change.
  • Organisational change support - Enables the team’s change management and service design approach through effective engagement with impacted business areas and stakeholders at all levels across the Agency, underpinned by clear and blended communication within SPD and across the wider organisation.
  • Data and Reporting – Contributes to effective data management and oversees the production of accurate, timely reporting for the Director of Delivery, ExCo and other relevant governance forums, enabling effective oversight and decision-making.
  • Risks & Issues – Supports the effective tracking, management and mitigation of strategic risks, working with stakeholders across the Agency to identify and raise issues where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable Project Delivery experience (e.g. in Programme Management or other fast-paced support role) within a strategic delivery environment.

  • Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check as well as animal rights and pro-life activism checks.
  • People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
  • Applicants who are successful at interview will be, as part of pre-employment screening subject to a check on the Internal Fraud Database (IFD).
  • A candidate is not eligible to apply for a role within the Civil Service if the application is made within a 5 year period following a dismissal for carrying out internal fraud against government.

Benefits

  • Individuals appointed on level transfer will retain their existing salary.
  • Staff joining on promotion will receive up to a 10% increase of their current basic salary, or the pay band minimum, whichever is the greater.
  • The individual will not retain any allowances paid by the former department/Agency, unless there are special circumstances, such as a reserved right to those allowances on transfer.
  • Successful candidates may be subject to annual Occupational Health reviews dependent on role requirements.
