About the Role
We are seeking a Managing Engineer within the Refrigeration sector to oversee a team of Refrigeration Engineers, ensuring timely and budget-conscious completion of planned and reactive maintenance tasks. This role also involves managing the call-out rota to guarantee adequate and safe coverage at all times.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the team, acting as their daily point of contact, and provide management support, guidance, training, and development to colleagues.
- Provide technical support and training to the team of Refrigeration Engineers.
- Control staffing on a day-to-day basis, including management of an on-call rota.
- Assist Area Support Manager with HR processes such as return-to-work forms, disciplinary incidents, performance reviews, and managing under-performing colleagues.
- Schedule holiday and absence cover.
- Investigate, record, and escalate accidents or near misses according to the Health & Safety Policy.
- Provide technical support for major operational issues and assistance for major incidents.
- Assist the team in delivering high-quality PPM work.
- Collaborate with the Area Support Manager to address and mitigate Health & Safety issues.
- Assist the Area Support Manager with budgetary management of parts and material usage.
- Attend client and manager meetings within the region on behalf of the business.
Requirements
- Full UK driving license is essential.
- Must have experience in an FM environment.
- Must have Refrigeration Engineering experience within Supermarkets.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to influence and use diplomacy with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to supervise engineers in a pressurized environment dealing with store teams and members of the public.
- Capable of prioritizing a complex and demanding workload.
- Flexibility with working hours to protect customer service levels and provide continuity of service, including weekend working and on-call cover.

Salary/Compensations
- £57,668 per annum
- Up to 4% discretionary bonus scheme
- Overtime paid at time and a half
