About the Role
The Commodity Sourcing Manager will manage assigned direct material commodity categories, developing and executing strategies, leading negotiations, and managing supplier relationships to ensure supply, optimize costs, and meet quality and sustainability goals. This role acts as the main liaison between suppliers and internal teams like Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, own, and execute multi-year commodity strategies for assigned categories.
- Monitor commodity market trends, index pricing, and supply/demand dynamics.
- Build and maintain should-cost models.
- Lead RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes for global supply markets.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, financial health, and risk profile.
- Drive competitive bidding events to achieve cost reduction targets.
- Recommend and onboard qualified suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, volume commitments, and contractual obligations.
- Execute Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs).
- Manage annual price reviews, cost-down commitments, and commodity escalation/de-escalation clauses.
- Ensure contract compliance.
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for the assigned supply base.
- Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with suppliers.
- Develop and track Supplier Scorecards.
- Identify and develop alternate or secondary sources to mitigate risk.
- Achieve annual cost reduction (ACR) and productivity targets.
- Identify and implement value engineering, demand aggregation, and consolidation opportunities.
- Maintain commodity spend analytics and deliver savings tracking reports.
- Support budgeting and standard cost-setting processes.
- Maintain appropriate safety stock strategies and buffer inventory recommendations.
- Drive dual-source and geographic diversification initiatives.
- Participate in S&OP processes.
- Partner with Engineering to influence design for cost and supply chain optimization.
- Collaborate with Demand Planning and Logistics to optimize ordering patterns, lead times, and inventory turns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated track record of developing and executing commodity strategies across direct material categories.
- Experience negotiating complex commercial contracts and long-term supply agreements.
- Exposure to global supply markets including Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and procurement technologies (Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling, should-cost analysis, and spend analytics.
- Strong command of sourcing methodologies: RFx management, e-auctions, and category management frameworks.
- Working knowledge of commodity indices (LME, CBOT, etc.) and hedging/pricing mechanisms.
- Familiarity with quality systems (PPAP, APQP, IATF 16949, ISO 9001) as they relate to supplier qualification.
- Must be willing to travel to Arizona 30-40% of the time.

- $170,000 - $220,000 per year
