About the Role

We are a warm, down-to-earth family seeking an organized and proactive Household Manager & Family Assistant to help maintain order and efficiency in our two homes. The ideal candidate will bring a calming, positive energy, enjoy creating order, and proactively manage household tasks so we can focus on family time. This role involves supporting our busy household, managing organization, inventory, administrative tasks, and occasional family support across our properties.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain household organization systems across both properties.
  • Perform daily resets and prepare the home for cleaning services.
  • Tidy as needed, including toys, artwork, dishes, surfaces, and vacuuming.
  • Organize fridge/freezer weekly to prevent buildup.
  • Manage seasonal swaps for clothing, decor, bedding, and outdoor items.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Prepare the home for events, holidays, and guest stays.
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for travel.
  • Perform plant care.
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors.
  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Maintain pet supplies.
  • Manage and collaborate on household orders and subscriptions.
  • Run errands such as post office, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping, and grocery shopping.
  • Handle mail and package deliveries, and break down boxes.
  • Maintain awareness of family calendar, including household schedules.
  • Assist with and manage family projects like documenting children's artwork and printing school photos.
  • Assist with school/camp forms as needed.
  • Track receipts and budget for expenses incurred as house manager.
  • Provide occasional help with event and appointment coordination.
  • Oversee occasional deep cleans of fridge, oven, and baseboards.
  • Refresh garage, mudroom, and entryway areas.
  • Clean and maintain humidifiers, air purifiers, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and ice machine.
  • Tackle major organizational projects in areas like toys, gear, pantry, basement, and mudroom.
  • Prep backpacks and activity bags with necessary items for parents.
  • Coordinate occasional babysitters as needed.
  • Manage kid-related errands.
  • Provide emergency backup pickups, drop-offs, and light child supervision.
  • Oversee cleaners, contractors, landscapers, and vendors.
  • Research and coordinate repairs and quotes.
  • Manage seasonal property maintenance.
  • Manage outdoor spaces.
  • Manage multiple properties, ensuring readiness.
  • Oversee home systems including HVAC, security, and water filters.
  • Conduct routine property walkthroughs in the Hudson Valley.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry.
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
  • Occasionally charge, organize, and schedule cleanings for vehicles.

Requirements
