About the Role

Block by Block California employs Ambassadors to enhance public spaces, making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role offers a great opportunity for individuals who are outgoing, friendly, enjoy working outdoors, and meeting new people.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks.
• Maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile.
• Provide directions and/or city information.
• Remove litter, including fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris from streets, sidewalks, and alleys.
• Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, and news boxes.
• Pull weeds from tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to Safety Ambassadors.
• Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.

Requirements

• CA Driver's License with a Clean Driving Record is required.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
