About the Role
This position supports the mission of a government program located in Buffalo, NY, assisting United States Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides all required job training. This is an on-call (casual) position requiring availability Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:15 pm, for substitute coverage as needed. Hours are not guaranteed, and income stream is not steady, making it ideal for candidates seeking supplemental income or flexible work.
Responsibilities
- Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration.
- Ensure all entrants are approved applicants and visitors.
- Provide interior and exterior crowd control.
- Assist staff in enforcing ASC rules and policies.
- Provide front-line customer service as a representative of Amentum and the U.S. Government.
- Provide applicants with the highest level of customer service.
- Work with the public, displaying a cheerful and inviting demeanor.
- Manage applicants with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect.
- Safeguard areas with Personal Identifiable Information (PII), applicant paperwork, identifications, and electronic biometric data.
- Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established times.
- Screen applicants entering the facility to ensure they have a valid appointment notice and identification.
- Utilize crowd control barriers to ensure safe and organized entry.
- Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to entry.
- Ask applicants about their health status during pandemics or health crises and potentially decline entry per customer requirements.
- Conduct periodic facility checks (interior and exterior) and report concerns to the Site Supervisor.
- Assist the Site Supervisor and/or government Immigration Service Officer in calling law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
- Manage and complete administrative paperwork accurately, including tracking processing times, reconciling captured biometrics, maintaining a visitor control log, and signing off on facility checks.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak and write in English.
- Ability to stand upright for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks.
- Ability to hold and grasp applicant's hands to obtain quality fingerprints.
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment with the public.
- Ability to type and use basic computer skills.
- Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days.
