About the Role
Johnstone Supply, North America's leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies, seeks a Data Architect to define, govern, and evolve the organization’s enterprise data platform built on Microsoft Fabric. This role is the architectural owner of the long-term data platform vision, ensuring it scales securely, cost-effectively, and aligns with business priorities. It acts as a bridge between business strategy and technical execution, ensuring data platform capabilities align with organizational objectives to enable teams to deliver insights and data products that drive measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Define, govern, and evolve the organization’s enterprise data platform built on Microsoft Fabric.
- Serve as the architectural owner of the long-term data platform vision.
- Ensure the data platform scales securely, cost-effectively, and aligns with business priorities.
- Act as a bridge between business strategy and technical execution.
- Ensure data platform capabilities are aligned with organizational objectives.
- Establish and enforce platform standards across security, governance, scalability, and cost management.
- Design end-to-end data architecture across ingestion, storage, modeling, and consumption layers.
- Own Microsoft Fabric platform architecture, configuration, and evolution.
- Establish standards for data governance, security, metadata, and lineage.
- Define platform patterns for API-based integrations and event-driven data flows.
- Partner with business and IT leaders to define platform roadmaps and sequencing.
- Review and guide solution designs produced by engineering and delivery teams.
- Ensure the platform supports enterprise analytics, self-service BI, and AI use cases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; seven or more years of experience in data architecture or analytics platform leadership; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Microsoft Cloud or Data Architecture certifications preferred.
- Enterprise architecture or data governance certifications a plus.
- Enterprise data architecture and analytics platform design experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and cloud analytics ecosystems.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance principles.
- Understanding of cost optimization, capacity planning, and platform scaling.
- Familiarity with data modeling, metadata management, and lineage concepts.
- Ability to lead architectural decisions under ambiguity.
- Strong strategic planning and prioritization skills.
- Ability to balance long-term platform vision with near-term delivery needs.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and technical teams.
- Ability to clearly communicate architectural direction, tradeoffs, and standards.
