About the Role

Communications Strategy at GSD&M is a human-centric, culture-obsessed discipline that unearths unique audience insights, media trends, cultural shifts, and tech innovations. This role sits at the center of our integrated agency model, requiring fluency across strategy, media, and creative. You will establish the story and credentials for our Communications Strategy practice and drive consistent understanding of its contributions internally and externally. A key focus will be immersing yourself in culture, particularly Sports, Music, and Gaming, to keep teams and clients ahead of trends.

Responsibilities

  • Craft the story and credentials of the Communications Strategy discipline, ensuring consistency and alignment.
  • Bring the consumer's world to life for Strategy, Creative, and Media teams.
  • Understand consumer receptivity to marketing communications using qualitative, cultural, and quantitative insights.
  • Learn client businesses and develop communications strategies to unlock potential.
  • Leverage creative ideas to craft brand stories native to media channels and audiences.
  • Craft briefs that inspire new media moments across paid, earned, and owned channels.
  • Present and defend strategies to clients, demonstrating how they will achieve results.
  • Contribute to new business development and pitch narratives.
  • Cultivate a strong strategic culture within the department through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Strong partnership and collaboration skills, bridging strategy, creative, and media.
  • Daily connectivity to culture through social media and real-world observation.
  • Knowledge of platforms and media channel advances for bringing creative stories to life.
  • Proven ability to drive or inspire unexpected uses of traditional touchpoints.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of the Sports, Music, and Gaming landscape.
  • A disposition driven by curiosity and understanding human motivation.
  • Minimum 10 years of agency experience, with a strong background in Digital and Social.
  • Requires regular in-office presence with a minimum of three days per week for in-person collaboration.
