About the Role
The Assistant Site Lead supports after-school sports programs and morning recess programs for K-5th grade students. This role is crucial for delivering a fun, safe, and structured sports experience, with a key focus on leading or supporting Recess programming independently.
Responsibilities
- Lead or support Recess sessions across assigned sites, including sites without a Site Lead.
- Manage groups of 30-50 students independently during Recess, ensuring energy, safety, and structure.
- Set up and break down Recess equipment.
- Uphold ANTS program standards and STAR values as the senior ANTS presence during Recess.
- Serve as the #2 in the After School Program, stepping in as acting Site Lead when needed.
- Assist the Site Lead with daily setup, equipment organization, and curriculum preparation.
- Support pre-program huddles and post-program reflections with the coaching team.
- Help manage station rotations and time across groups of 30-50 students.
- Set up and clean up equipment before and after each session.
- Help supervise, support, and prepare a team of 3-4 coaches.
- Provide real-time feedback and reinforcement to coaches during sessions.
- Communicate clearly with coaches about roles, expectations, and daily logistics.
- Coach a variety of sports in a fun, inclusive, and age-appropriate manner for TK-5th grade students.
- Foster a safe, encouraging environment for all students using ANTS' STAR values.
- Demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm, and engagement as a role model.
- Assist with student arrival, transitions, and dismissal.
- Communicate professionally with families, school staff, and ANTS leadership.
- Support behavior management and conflict resolution.
- Ensure program safety and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
- Assist with attendance tracking and check-in/check-out procedures.
- Help manage equipment across assigned sites, conducting safety checks and flagging inventory needs.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working with youth (K-5th grade preferred).
- 1+ year of experience supervising or managing staff.
- 1+ year of experience coaching sports or physical activity programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors and engaging actively in physical play.
- Available for all program dates and hours throughout the school year, including both Recess and ASP.
- Must clear fingerprint background check and TB test.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to complete upon hire).
