About the Role

Join the legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company! As an Early Career Trial Attorney, you'll handle bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, and more with arbitrations, mediations, and occasional trials. Beyond the courtroom, you'll provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams. Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
  • Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication records.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
  • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.

Requirements

  • Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout Kings County, New York County, Richmond County, and Queens County New York.
  • The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
  • Allstate generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position.
  • Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating when working from home.
  • Reliable internet is required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
