About the Role

This role is part of the wider Operations Command Centre, under Service Operations, responsible for the upkeep and management of all Bank Data Centres. The team is learning new skills to support the Bank's transition from on-premises infrastructure to Cloud and newer data centres.

Responsibilities

  • Review incidents or important updates during shift handover.
  • Coordinate with other support teams for equipment in the Data Centre.
  • Perform day-to-day operational duties such as system monitoring, starting or closing applications, and running batch suites.
  • Respond to alerts about incidents affecting core systems during overnight shifts.
  • Contact on-call support teams or escalate incidents to shift leaders.
  • Handle out-of-hours Service Desk calls, including supporting locked-out devices.
  • Liaise with the smart hands service for support in data centres.
  • Update documentation to refine steps for handling specific alerts.
  • Work 14 12-hour shifts over a rolling 5-week period on a 24/7 shift pattern.
  • Work a mixture of day and night shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Cover other shifts for leave or sickness, with overtime pay.

Requirements

  • Eagerness to develop or build on experience in a 24x7 operations environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative attitude.
  • Any knowledge of operational procedures.
  • Understanding of the request, incident, problem, and change management process.
  • Ability to be flexible and cope with and handle change.
  • Experience of working in small, close-knit teams with a good work ethic.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to timelines.
  • Must pass National Security Vetting clearance (6-12 weeks post offer).
  • Must pass additional Bank security checks.
  • Eligibility for UKVI sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Control-M experience
  • SCOM or Splunk understanding
  • Storage Area Networks understanding
  • Server infrastructure understanding
  • Commvault Enterprise Backup experience
  • Microsoft tools experience (MS Forms, MS Teams, Power Automate)

Salary/Compensations

  • £33,600 - £37,800
