About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and intellectually sharp Junior Compliance Officer to support our lean, ambitious legal and compliance team. This role offers significant visibility, responsibility, and growth opportunities within a PE-backed, global maritime intelligence platform experiencing rapid expansion. You will engage with various business functions and senior leadership, requiring confidence and the ability to question and identify potential issues.
Responsibilities
- Support governance and risk management processes, including maintaining risk registers, policy frameworks, and compliance calendars.
- Assist with sanctions screening processes and monitor developments in sanctions regimes relevant to our products and clients.
- Monitor regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions (UK, EU, US, Singapore, UAE and others) and brief the team on material changes.
- Administer internal policies, ensuring they are current, accessible, and understood across the business.
- Support due diligence processes, including vendor and counterparty assessments.
- Assist with data protection compliance (UK GDPR) in coordination with our DPO function.
- Help prepare materials for board and leadership governance meetings.
- Field day-to-day compliance queries from colleagues, serving as a first point of contact.
- Support day-to-day compliance operations and internal control processes.
Requirements
- Intellectually sharp, able to quickly read complex material, extract key information, and communicate clearly.
- Proactive in identifying issues, flagging risks, and following through on tasks.
- Professionally confident, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and external advisers.
- Strong written communication skills, producing clear and concise emails and briefing notes.
- Comfortable with technology and curious about AI, with an ease in adopting new tools and exploring AI-assisted workflows.
- Genuine interest in compliance as a discipline.
- Experience matters less than ability and attitude; curiosity, drive, and sound judgment are essential.
