About the Role
Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Finance Director to join their market-leading Global Occupier Services business in London. This role will serve as the finance lead and business advisor to the Client Managing Director, ensuring high standards of financial control and adding tangible value through financial management.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the finance lead and business advisor to the Client Managing Director.
- Ensure high standards of financial control are maintained.
- Implement, review, and validate appropriate systems and internal controls.
- Manage the finance function and oversee the finance team.
- Anticipate client needs to ensure financial management continually adds tangible value.
- Ensure proper accounting and reporting of expenses and business tax implications (e.g., VAT, GST, TDS).
- Prepare global budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
- Conduct forecasting, financial modeling, and expense analysis.
- Manage cash and oversee expense disbursements.
- Identify potential risks and upsides to budget or forecast.
- Maintain financial ledgers and accounting processes and controls.
- Produce internal financial reports in a timely manner.
- Prepare monthly funding and financial reporting to the client.
- Prepare monthly consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Ensure financial management for all core and major accounts conforms with Global Occupier Services standards.
- Participate in training programs for financial employees and clients.
- Conduct seminars to enhance employee skills and improve morale.
- Lead staff meetings and conference calls to discuss strategies and pending financial issues.
- Identify best practices and continually enhance efficiencies and improve quality.
- Provide constant direction and communication to the Global Finance organization.
- Meet weekly with regional finance leads to ensure clear and consistent communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Graduate work or CPA certification preferred.
- 10 years of experience in the real estate industry.
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial property management.
- 5 years of supervisory or equivalent experience.
- Understand SOC1 Compliance.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Working experience with real estate accounting systems, preferably Yardi.
- Working experience with internal and external audit functions.
- Experience as a department head, including business planning, budgeting, personnel management, and staff modeling.
- Capability to manage, coach, and counsel a team of financial professionals.
- Strong team player with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Energetic, lateral thinker with an enquiring mind and a commercial approach.
- High degree of personal drive and motivation to succeed.
- Good communicator (written and verbal) with high-quality report writing skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments.
- Committed to the achievement of assigned goals and targets.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain progress on multiple projects and processes.
