About the Role

Clio is seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer in Manchester to join their Data Engineering team. This role is for someone passionate about building innovative solutions, facing new challenges and technologies, and making an impact. The position is open to existing Clions with suitable skills and interests.

Responsibilities

  • Implement data ingestion (real-time and batch) using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes by leveraging Azure technologies and data tools.
  • Design, build, and maintain data transformation pipelines and notebooks, consolidating various data sources (streaming or batch) into Data Lakes / Data Warehouses.
  • Collaborate with engineers to help adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Develop prototype or "proof of concept" implementations of projects where the technical solution is unknown or unproven.
  • Build interactive reports for internal and customer consumption.

Requirements

  • Experience in software development, as well as experience in data engineering or data analytics.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure).
  • Proficiency in at least one major language (e.g., Python, Spark SQL, or Scala) and SQL, the drive to write elegant and maintainable code, and a desire to pick up new technologies.
  • Experience with streaming and batch data tools: Spark, Airflow.
  • Data warehousing experience working with MS Fabric or similar.
  • Experience using visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to derive clarity in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience using mirroring or other replication tools.
  • Self-starter and thrives on feedback.
