About the Role

The KOBV Central Office operates services for academic, public, and special libraries in the region and carries out development projects. We are seeking full-time support for the EFRE-funded state project CLAUDI – Berlin Library Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Identify necessary technical measures for migrating the existing library management system (SISIS) to the open-source BMS FOLIO in close coordination with participating universities and the BVB Central Office.
• Design and manage the technical implementation of the migration, considering project milestones and developing automated workflows as needed.
• Participate in the analysis, development, and optimization of operational concepts for FOLIO and VuFind.
• Advance the migration project through active participation in cross-organizational and national FOLIO working groups.
• Support universities in the technical integration of the BMS into the campus infrastructure and, if necessary, in connecting to university identity management and financial systems.

Requirements

• Completed scientific university degree in Computer Science, Library Informatics, Information Science, or comparable disciplines.
• Sound user knowledge of scripting languages for automating data processes (e.g., Python).
• Knowledge of API integration (REST/JSON) and interface management.
• Experience in system administration.
• Good knowledge of the Linux environment.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Kubernetes are advantageous.
• Ideally, knowledge of ETL tools for data transformation (e.g., OpenRefine, Catmandu, Metafacture) and library data formats.
• Very good German language skills.
• Good English language skills (written and spoken).
• High degree of willingness to learn and flexibility.
