About the Role
The Head La Perouse Museum will lead a dedicated team of museum and cultural professionals, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of this significant site. Partnering closely with the La Perouse Aboriginal community, you will help realize a bold vision that celebrates culture, community connection, and contemporary stories.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Museum services guided by the Arts and Culture Strategy, Exhibition and Collection Policies, Reconciliation Action Plan and the Community Strategic Plan
- Lead the ongoing redevelopment of the Museum into a flagship First Nations Cultural Precinct and flagship cultural facility for Council and for community
- Prioritise First Nations engagement as a planning and delivery focus in programming and in partnerships
- Provide specialist leadership of all aspects of Museum management including collections management, exhibitions development and delivery, education programs, budget and strategic oversight, staff leadership, identifying external funding sources and building new partnerships and collaborations
- Integrate the Museum and its services with other Economic Development and Placemaking areas including Arts and Culture, Events, Venues and Economic Development, and across other key Council areas and programs, and participate as a collaborative and inspiring leader within the team and for Randwick Council
Requirements
- Strong experience working alongside First Nations communities, with a proven track record delivering First Nations-led or First Nations-focused projects and programs.
- Deep knowledge of contemporary museum practice, theory and audience engagement.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and a passion for creating compelling authentic cultural experiences that inspire visitation and community connection.
- The ability to lead teams through change while fostering innovation, resilience, inclusion and excellence.
- Employment in this position is subject to the successful completion of a Criminal History Check with a result of no relevant adverse findings and a current Working with Childrens Check.

- $130,674 to $150,275 per annum + 12% superannuation
