About the Role

As a Medical Receptionist at Key Health, you will be the first point of contact for patients and an important part of the care journey. You will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while delivering a welcoming and professional experience for every patient. There are opportunities to work across multiple sites for training, development, and professional growth. Our casual team members gain experience across various sites, serving different communities and offering diverse patient services. Permanent Medical Receptionists are offered pathways to Senior Medical Receptionist or Management roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to patients, doctors, and the clinical team.
  • Answer phone calls, manage inquiries, and book appointments.
  • Handle patient check-in, payment processing, and front desk operations.
  • Perform general administration, including filing, emailing, faxing, and correspondence.
  • Support doctors, nurses, and practice staff with daily administrative needs.
  • Collaborate with the reception team and Practice Manager to complete daily tasks accurately and on time.
  • Follow practice procedures for patient results, recalls, and clinical administration.
  • Assist with patient triage and escalate urgent matters as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and clinic environment.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and compliance with the Privacy Act 1988.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by management or practice principals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a medical reception or administrative role is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and a patient-focused approach.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Windows and general office systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
  • Maintain a calm, professional communication style, especially during busy or high-pressure situations.
