About the Role

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a field-based Long-Term Care (LTC) Specialty Account Manager (SAM) to drive LTC commercial activities within an assigned geography. This role is crucial for executing marketing strategies to ensure a successful product launch and making a meaningful impact through commercial efforts. SAMs will be responsible for product performance at a territory level, acting as disease state experts, product champions, and account specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Drive product adoption in LTC facilities.
  • Engage effectively with customers both virtually and in person.
  • Call on LTC Care teams and build relationships with stakeholders including Psychiatrists, Neurologists, nurse practitioners, Physician assistants, Nurses, LTC staff, Closed-door pharmacies, clinical pharmacists, case managers, and care coordinators.
  • Develop a comprehensive territory business plan, including account plans for targeted LTC facilities, to achieve and exceed goals.
  • Promote products within approved labeling in a fair, ethical, and compliant manner.
  • Understand customer needs to build strong relationships.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to customers regarding payer policies and processes, including eligibility and benefit verification, prior-authorization, and appeals/denials.
  • Navigate Market Access and Reimbursement, understanding payer requirements, pharmacy fulfillment processes, patient access programs, and reimbursement tools.
  • Maximize the use of marketing resources to develop customer relationships and increase confidence in prescribing Axsome medications.
  • Communicate territory activity accurately and timely.
  • Provide feedback to sales, commercial leadership, colleagues, marketing, and other internal departments regarding market changes and results.
  • Complete all training classes in a timely manner.
  • Complete administrative duties accurately and timely.
  • Manage efforts within the assigned promotional budget.
  • Collaborate effectively across all corporate functions.
  • Attend medical congresses and society meetings as needed.
  • Ensure timely patient access through patient services and savings programs.
  • Perform overnight travel as required.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in LTC or account-based selling environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering outstanding results, including Top 10% or Elite/President’s Club performance.
  • Launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Must reside within the geography of the assigned territory.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and utilizing resources to achieve business goals.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks concurrently under accelerated timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to thrive with ambiguity and in business environments with high expectations.
  • Patient support services experience is a plus.
  • Strong digital marketing aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive frequently, including extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs regularly.
  • Ability to perform overhead reaching to close and secure liftgates or similar equipment.
