About the Role

We are looking for a Chief Legal Counsel (Germany) (w/m/d) to advise sales teams, management, and departments on legal matters, focusing on B2B contract drafting. You will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts, acting as a liaison between legal advice and business operations, and ensuring compliance with various regulations. This role involves leading a small team of lawyers and representing Schneider Electric in legal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advise sales teams, management, and departments on all relevant legal issues, with a focus on contract drafting in the B2B environment.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex purchase, service, and works contracts, including construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Act as a productive link between legal advice, corporate guidelines, and operational business, developing sustainable, economically viable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with antitrust, competition, export/import, data protection, and other compliance regulations, and provide proactive advice.
  • Lead a small team of lawyers, develop competencies, and ensure clear prioritization and efficient workflow.
  • Represent Schneider Electric in all legal matters internally and externally as a member of the Global Legal Department.
  • Independently conduct negotiations with external parties.
  • Coordinate and manage court, arbitration, and dispute resolution proceedings in close cooperation with external law firms and internal stakeholders.
  • Assess complex economic situations, identify risks, and develop pragmatic recommendations to operationally support Sales, Finance, and Management.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified lawyer (m/f/d) with completed 1st and 2nd state examinations.
  • Excellent knowledge of contract and sales law (B2B) and very good knowledge of public procurement law, VOB/B, antitrust, and competition law.
  • Experience in anti-corruption, product liability, and Health & Safety topics.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, ideally in an internationally active company or comparable law firm.
  • Good understanding of industrial business models, technical products, and their legal frameworks.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, combined with a confident demeanor and high assertiveness.
  • Strong understanding of entrepreneurial contexts and a pragmatic, solution-oriented consulting approach.
  • Very good German language skills and fluent English.
  • Team-oriented, optimistic personality with drive, responsibility, and a high degree of independence.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional business travel.
