About the Role
The Dispatcher is a critical role within our operational center of excellence, contributing to the delivery of customer service excellence by ensuring 100% Complete load, 100% Quality Product, 100% On-Time Performance, and 100% Inventory Control & Accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Cultivates strong relationships with warehouse and logistics staff, including Department Managers, Customer Service Reps, Lead Hand, Dispatchers, Order Pickers, Stagers, Drivers, and Customers (internal and external).
- Oversees Drivers and Driver Helpers.
- Monitors current KPIs with respect to inventory control, targeting 100% complete loads, product quality, on-time delivery, and pick-ups.
- Ensures the POR Dispatch module is up-to-date.
- Assesses Drivers and Helpers daily to meet and exceed performance standards, including customer expectations, driving performance, and fleet maintenance.
- Ensures Drivers follow all practices deemed essential by the provincial and federal government and the Manager at the specific location.
- In collaboration with the Manager, conducts performance scorecard reviews for each Driver and Helper quarterly.
- Conducts load calculations and routing, knowing daily standing against capacity, and assigns loads to vehicles, Drivers, and Helpers accordingly.
- Prioritizes work and runs based on urgency and importance.
- Provides delivery crews with information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements.
- Ensures trucks are in good condition when received or returned.
- Consults with and cultivates strong relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, and external customers to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.
- Enters data into the computer system and maintains logs and records of calls, activities, and other information.
- Records, answers, reconciles, and/or files customer requests, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of warehouse layout and product knowledge.
- Supports warehouse operations during slower periods, including assisting with inventory counts and performing general labor duties, and working alongside other departments upon request.
Requirements
- Knowledge of company products is considered an asset.
- WHMIS / Safety Awareness Certified.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (required).
- Demonstrated ability to embrace and learn new workflows and technology.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willing to work irregular and/or long hours.
- Flexibility to work out of both GTA locations: North York and East York.
