About the Role
PayPal is seeking a Sr Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy high-quality Ruby on Rails applications. This role involves analyzing software product requirements, transforming them into scalable technical designs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and stability of existing applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy high-quality Ruby on Rails applications.
- Analyze software product requirements and transform them into scalable technical designs by collaborating with Technical Leads and Product Managers.
- Review teams Pull Requests for accuracy and stability, and adhere to RoR best practices.
- Participate in Scrum ceremony calls to ensure deliverables are met or blockers are called out early to ensure project success.
- Research, analyze, design, develop, and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
- Attend pairing sessions with other developers on the team for collaboration and education.
- Oversee the stability and performance of existing applications, providing support as needed.
- Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment.
- Drive team discussions on technical strategy, system architecture, and engineering design to meet various functional and non-functional requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- 5 years of experience in Ruby on Rails
- 4 years of experience deploying and managing scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using cloud computing technologies like AWS or GCP
- 4 years of experience with code management system like Github
- 3 years of experience with relational databases and NoSQL databases
- 3 years of experience with continuous deployment tools like Jenkins
- 3 years of experience creating Splunk reports and Dashboards
- 2 years of experience with Java programming language
- 2 years of experience maintaining code equality using RSpec for unit and integration testing and Postman
- 2 years of experience writing technical design documentation using tools like miro, Confluence
- 1 year of experience applying AI/ML techniques in day to day development like github co-pilot
Education Level
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field
Salary/Compensations
- $163,550.00-211,500.00 per annum
