About the Role
PayPal is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to define and execute the mobile technology roadmap, build and lead high-performing mobile engineering teams, and drive innovation in mobile development. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class mobile experiences, mentoring senior engineers, and overseeing mobile architecture and design.
Responsibilities

- Mentor and coach senior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and experimentation.
- Partner effectively with product and engineering leadership to oversee mobile architecture and design.
- Design, develop, and deliver software and/or platforms (libraries).
- Provide deep expertise in mobile technologies and architecture.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field, plus four years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field, plus six years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Skills
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining mobile applications (Android) using Java and Kotlin (4 years)
- Experience with object-oriented programming principles in design, coding, and testing patterns (4 years)
- Experience integrating and consuming REST APIs (4 years)
- Experience using Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices (4 years)
- Experience managing source code repositories using Git, including branching, merging, and version control. (4 years)
- Experience writing and executing unit tests and UI tests (4 years)
- Experience in profiling and optimizing Android applications for memory usage, CPU load, and UI responsiveness. (4 years)
- Experience implementing and adhering to device and network security best practices (4 years)
