Responsibilities

  • Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing products.
  • Recommends materials to Design Engineering to achieve savings, reduce lead times, improve systems, increase life, or mitigate risk.
  • Works with New Product Development teams to ensure clarity of engineering drawing requirements and effective communication with suppliers.
  • Participates with New Product Introduction teams to involve suppliers in specification development and review for design for manufacturability.
  • Continuously involved in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base providing competitive advantage.
  • Leads the supplier technical audit process, evaluates supplier performance and capability, and drives continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Trains other supplier engineers on the supplier audit and evaluation process.
  • Leads quality problem resolutions and incident management, driving root cause and corrective action.
  • Identifies and drives systemic supplier resolutions at the process level.
  • Assists in cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers and supply markets.

  • Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in specialized discipline or field.
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices.
  • Leads functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
  • Leads others to solve complex problems using sophisticated analytical thought.
  • Impacts achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives.
  • Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others.
