About the Role
The NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office is seeking an experienced Principal Solicitor for its Child Protection Practice Group, which specializes in child protection law and provides expert advice and representation to NSW Government departments and agencies.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Director in managing the practice group, including client and stakeholder engagement.
- Identifying and implementing team-wide initiatives to achieve business and people goals.
- Leading a sub-team within the practice group.
- Providing high-level advice and representation to clients in complex litigation and/or advice matters.
- Supervising the work of solicitors and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and client-focused legal services.
Requirements
- Completion of a law degree from an accredited law school or the Legal Practitioners Admission Board’s Diploma in Law Course.
- Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.
- Highly developed legal skills and extensive experience in providing advice and representation in highly complex legal matters within the Practice Group’s specializations.
- Undertake Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Willingness to travel for regional or interstate court and other commitments.
Skills
- Expertise in providing and supervising complex litigation and/or advice.
- Experience in managing and supervising solicitors.
- Effective communication with stakeholders.
- Evidence preparation and dealing with evidentiary issues.
- Clear, accurate, and persuasive presentation of submissions.
- Mentoring and supervision experience.
- Advising on matters within the practice group's specializations.

Salary/Compensations
- $165,865 - $169,359 p.a. plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annualised leave loading.
