About the Role
This role focuses on operational risk and control within Pemberton Asset Management, a leading European private credit manager. The Associate/Associate Director will be instrumental in designing and executing control assurance reports, monitoring risk remediation, and enhancing the operational risk framework.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and execution of the Control assurance report for investors, including gathering key risk/control data, developing evidence logs, providing guidance, and supporting management assertions.
- Maintain and update assurance logs and follow up on outstanding actions.
- Monitor and report on key risk remediation progress.
- Support risk and control design and effectiveness reviews of inherent high-risk processes.
- Contribute to third-party risk management continual improvements.
- Manage change risk.
- Align risk and control data for Risk events, Assessments, Third-party risks, and Operational Resilience against common taxonomies.
- Support the design and development of GRC capabilities.
- Contribute to the continual development of operational risk guidance and education (e.g., RCSA, Change Risk, Risk Issue approaches).
- Embed Control Assurance methodologies for ISAE3402.
- Support the implementation and updating of related Risk management policies and procedures (e.g., Risk Appetite, KRI development).
- Support the production of Risk reports.
- Coordinate responses to internal and external audit requests.
- Adhere to the firm’s conduct rules: Act with integrity, act with due care, skill, and diligence, be open and cooperative with regulators, pay due regard to customer interests, and observe proper market conduct.
- Ensure all Compliance activity considers ESG factors to maximize corporate sustainability and support diversity and inclusion objectives.
Requirements
- Ideally 6+ years of exposure to Operational risk in financial services, preferably including experience in private finance and/or asset management.
- Strong experience in Operational Risk methodologies and their deployment through guidance and training, including Risk Identification and Risk Event management, Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Control assurance, Risk Issue and Action Management, and Risk Reporting and Monitoring.
- GRC tool user experience.
- Control Assurance experience (design and effectiveness).
- Experience in supporting or leading agile change initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement with a track record of influencing change.
- Fluent in English and able to communicate effectively in a global organization.
- Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and document management systems such as SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to learn and develop compliance knowledge.
- Collaborative, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Appetite and/or ability to learn and deploy AI opportunities across Operational Risk processes.
