About the Role

The IV Technician will play a crucial role in the compounding and preparation of sterile intravenous medications for long-term care facilities and patients. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in sterile compounding techniques, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile intravenous medications according to established protocols and procedures, including accurate measurement, compounding, labeling, and documentation.
• Perform routine inspections and quality control checks to ensure medication integrity and sterility, following strict aseptic techniques and maintaining cleanliness.
• Monitor inventory levels of compounding supplies and medications, assist with ordering and stocking, and maintain accurate records of transactions and expiration dates.
• Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines, including USP 797 standards for sterile compounding, and stay informed about regulatory updates.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate medication preparation and delivery, ensuring effective communication for workflow and patient safety.
• Maintain a patient-centered approach, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of medications and addressing concerns with professionalism and empathy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in sterile compounding, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in aseptic techniques and sterile compounding procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and documentation.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
• Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards governing sterile compounding.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
