About the Role

This position supports all aspects of corporate income and indirect tax reporting and compliance for the Hyundai Capital Canada Group. The role provides tax advice for new products and marketing programs, implements financial controls over tax filings, manages tax provisioning, and coordinates tax initiatives and research to support the leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and report data for Canadian entities for indirect tax compliance, withholding tax returns, and annual statistics returns.
  • Perform first-level review of monthly tax calculations and file federal and provincial indirect tax returns, including SLFI returns.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure internal systems meet requirements for timely and accurate tax reporting.
  • Prepare Canadian quarterly income tax provision computations and reconciliations, including current and deferred tax analysis.
  • Monitor new general ledger accounts and document book and tax treatments.
  • Analyze and interpret tax treatments for financial statement, statutory, and internal management reporting.
  • Manage tax audits and liaise with external tax and legal advisors to defend tax positions and document due diligence.
  • Manage domestic and provincial income and indirect tax examinations, including responding to Information Document Requests.
  • Assist with tax research and special projects to lower the effective tax rate and optimize cash tax flow.
  • Assist in developing transfer pricing methodology and intercompany service agreements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in income or indirect tax.
  • Captive financing business knowledge with a focus on securitization transactions is an asset.
  • Indirect tax business knowledge with a focus on identifying the taxable status of underlying supply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Completion of CICA Tax In-depth level I and II.
  • CPA and/or MBT designation.
