About the Role

NexHealth is seeking engineers to work on challenging problems, including building an open data lake for health records, developing dev ops for rapid growth, and defining the next generation of health record system integrations. This role will be based in Toronto or Vancouver with a hybrid working model.

Responsibilities

• Serve as one of NexHealth's first engineers in Canada, influencing the technical and cultural direction of a growing team.
• Scale the data processing and storage layer to handle exponentially growing customer data, from terabytes to petabytes.
• Build and maintain bidirectional, real-time integrations with numerous EHR systems, aiming for hundreds or thousands.
• Improve core systems to enable 100x growth in platform users (practices, patients, developers).
• Own cross-functional projects from technical design through launch and rollout.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders and product managers to define and achieve ambitious engineering goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, specializing in scalable back-end systems and platforms.
• Extensive experience with integrating and scaling storage systems, cloud-native services, and open-source projects (Kubernetes ecosystem, AWS, PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency in common DevOps tools and practices.
• Strong understanding of quality and security engineering principles.
• Demonstrated ability to envision and implement high-quality software and engineering practices.
• Excellent systems-level thinking for distributed systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences.
