About the Role
As a founding Sales Engineer at Field Materials AI, you will be the technical backbone of our sales process, bridging the gap between our AI technology and the operational needs of contractors. You will partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, demo the product, prototype custom AI agents, and demonstrate integrations with customer ERP systems. This is a high-visibility role where you will directly influence our product roadmap by acting as the "voice of the customer" to our engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Partner with AEs to conduct deep-dive discovery sessions, identifying prospect pain points in procurement, AP workflows, and inventory management.
- Deliver compelling, tailored demonstrations of the Field Materials platform, specifically showcasing our AI capabilities and bi-directional ERP integrations.
- Design and present how Field Materials’ modules map to the customer’s existing workflows and how these modules need to be configured.
- Prototype AI agents customized to prospects’ needs, which may be used to extract information from documents or automate customer workflows end to end.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on our integrations with Procore, Sage 100/300/Intacct, Viewpoint Vista and Spectrum, Foundation, CMiC, and Quickbooks helping prospects understand how data syncs between systems.
- Lead technical evaluations, including answering security questionnaires and addressing concerns regarding API capabilities, data privacy, and AI accuracy.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to share field insights, ensuring our roadmap addresses the most critical needs of the construction industry.
- Act as a technical consultant during the closing stages of the sales cycle to ensure a smooth hand-off to the Customer Success team for implementation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or a technical implementation specialist (SaaS experience required).
- Proven ability to manage multiple technical evaluations simultaneously in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Familiarity with the construction industry and common workflows are a big plus (RFQs, POs, Invoices, 3-way matching).
