About the Role
The Global Sustainability team is seeking a Circular Economy Manager for its headquarters in Berlin. This role is crucial for advancing the company's sustainable packaging strategy and food waste reduction globally, with a primary focus on EU, ANZ, and UK markets. The position requires a blend of strategic oversight and operational execution to improve food waste performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Integrate sustainability into daily operations to improve waste performance across global markets.
- Conduct site visits and waste audits to identify and implement waste reduction, donation, and diversion opportunities.
- Support the development and execution of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) strategy.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant packaging reporting across relevant regions.
- Lead data reporting efforts for packaging and food waste in line with CSRD ESRS E-5.
- Ensure audit-ready data collection and validation for sustainability reporting.
- Drive the development of robust data pipelines and streamline existing tracking processes.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop globally scalable oversight and align circular economy goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in sustainability, supply chain management, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience in sustainability, operations, or circular economy roles, preferably within CPG, food, or retail industries.
- Distinct focus on food waste and packaging ecosystems.
- Highly process-oriented with a hands-on approach.
- Comfortable bridging the gap between corporate strategy and facility-level operations.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in large datasets.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Experience with (non-)financial sustainability reporting (CSRD, EPR).
- Deep understanding of sustainable packaging materials, waste valorization processes, recycling infrastructure, and international ESG reporting standards.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to influence and mobilize cross-functional, global teams across different time zones and cultures.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
